Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.
Hi I’m Ripley! I’m about 9 mo old and my foster mom says I look like a shepherd mix maybe with a husky because I like to give little grumbles when I play and little ”ah-woos” when I’m excited!
I live with three kids (11, 8, 6) and I think they are amazing. I’m super gentle with them and love to lay down next to them while they play their games. I also live with three dogs who help me feel confident in new situations so I think that I would love have another dog in my new home but with the right person it wouldn’t be a deal breaker if I was the only dog.
I’m crate trained and potty trained (but my foster mom always keeps a close eye on me) and walk nicely on a leash as long as I dont see a bunny but I'm working hard on learning that bunnies are friends, not food. I LOVE to play with toys and will throw them around while I play like a total goober or slide my chew bones and chase them as they spin.
I’m very smart and in the two weeks that I’ve been in a home I’ve learned crate, down, sit, and leave it. Basically if you have some treats and some time I can learn a new skill! My foster mom is great at keeping my brain engaged which helps me feel like I have a “job” and I love that.
If you’re looking for a smart fun new friend for you, your kids, or your dogs then please reach out to my foster mom and we can see if we are a good fit!
