Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.
Well hello Moonshine...
Let me start off by saying... This hound is AMAZING. Moonshine came to us from a rural shelter when his breeder didn't want him anymore. He was trained to be a hunting dog and has a drive that you don't see too often.
Moonshine is looking for a family that wants a hound dog with all his quirks. Ideally finding him a home on some land where he can run around would be perfect. He does need a fenced in property as he is a hunter and has a high prey drive.
Moonshine enjoys walks, but again with the high prey drive, a city walk or busy walk wouldn't be fun for their party. Moonshine gets along with most dogs, but prefers either females or smaller, younger male dogs. He is the perfect playmate and plays really well with all of his friends. He wears even the craziest dogs out and then loves to lay with his buddies in the sun.
Moonshine is house broken and crate trained. He is highly food motivated and ready to learn anything you want to teach him. If you are interested in learning more about Moonshine, please feel free to fill out an adoption application and we will get you in contact with his foster to schedule a time to meet.
