Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.
Mojo. Mojo Dojo. Mojito. Mambo Jambo. Mojo is a man of many names.
This sweet fella came to us during a cold snap from a rural shelter. The sad news is, he's been in that same shelter for almost two years. He came in with a buddy who was adopted quickly. Mojo is a little timid around new people which makes it hard for him to stand out at the shelter.
We think it's one of his best qualities. Mojo is not a dog that will jump on you or your furniture unless you ask. He may be slow to greet new guests but he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Once you're a safe human, he may gently lean into your legs for head pets - which frankly feels like winning a very special lottery.
If you have other dogs in your life, you're in luck. Mojo comes alive with his doggy brethren (and sister..thren)! He has great play cues and can keep up with the best of them despite his short stature. He's also very respectful of the older dog in our home. Ideally, we'd love to see Mojo go to a home with another dog (or two or three depending on your situation).
Mojo met our neighbor's kitty and displayed zero interest in her. He's met other kiddos and generally does well with older ones, as the tiny humans can create unexpected noises that make it a little harder for him to settle in. He's also an oversized potato with legs so he can be indelicate in moving around smaller humans.
People literally stop us on walks to tell us how handsome this pup is, so we know he's a looker too. If you want a very handsome and sensitive meatball - this is the dog for you.
