Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.

Introducing Dunkin!

If you’re looking for a quiet, steady companion, this is your pup! Dunkin was found wandering in a field during Texas’ snow-pocalypse. He was shy, but trusting when help came for him. When he first got to his foster home he plopped down on a fluffy dog bed & curled up tightly for a snooze. He looked like a glazed donut! And just like that, he became Dunkin!

Dunkin has a large scar on the side of his face that stretches up to the top of his head. We don’t know what happened to him as it was completely healed when he was found. It tells the tale of perseverance & the tenacity to find good, kind people to care for him. It also reveals his forgiving nature.

Dunkin is a super chill, calm, gentle pup who loves to smile. He’s also 100% foodie. ;) Mealtime is his *favorite* time of day & he will do almost anything for a bite to eat! This is great because it also means he’s easily trained. Speaking of training, did I mention he’s crate trained & potty trained & that it took no time at all?? He is also great on a leash! Dunkin has been the most wonderful houseguest with his foster & her family, foster fur-siblings, & with any & everyone he’s met.

Unfortunately, Dunkin was infected with heartworms during his journey before entering rescue. The awesome news is he has finished his treatment & handled it well. Staying calm wasn’t much of an issue for this guy as he loves to flop on his favorite bed, stare out the window & watch the world go by.

Dunkin is ready for his next chapter - one of love, cuddles, adventure, &, of course, snacks! Are you up for that? Dunkin is!

(He’d do best in a home with older, calmer kiddos. The same goes for his others dogs. He much prefers the calm variety over the in-your-face-wanna-play-all-the-time variety. He’d also rock being an only child with the occasional buddy!)
