Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.

Meet Dany!

Daenerys the Precious, first of her name, breaker of chew toys, mother of cuddles, and heir to the house of (?). Well, that’s what we need to find out - I’m ready for my forever home!

I go by Dany (also Dans, Dandelion, Sis, Kitten, and Head). And unlike my namesake, I am really more like a kitten than a dragon. I don’t see any issue with hurdling the couch, love to sunbathe, can jump really well and I am as agile as, well, a cat.

You may be aware of this by now but…I am gorgeous. I mean, I’ve seen some cute dogs...but I am told not to let that go to my head and that my manners are very important. So, I took quickly to sitting, shaking and downs. I am VERY smart and my very favorite thing to do is chase and fetch balls. Do you have a ball that I can chase? Also, I LOVE water…put a sprinkler out and I will party like there is no tomorrow!

I am learning to love my walks, although I didn’t at first. You see, the world is a big place and I haven’t been used to wide open spaces and loud noises and strangers. At first, I would not go, I tucked my tail as far as I could, dug my feet in and refused! My foster siblings could not figure out what was wrong. They were like, “what’s up with the new girl? She’s so crazy.” With lots of patience and even more treats, I’ve started to love walks! This is how I am with most things, I may not dig it at first, but adapt
quickly and then gain a new favorite thing to do.

I am a special girl and may not ever be a social butterfly, I tend to love the people closest to me. I have a lot of energy and need a lot of attention. Although I live with two smaller humans and two foster siblings, I think I may like to be an only child. I would love to live with adult humans that want to just doll over me and play all the time…with ample time for treats and meals of course! Maybe we could explore fun training classes together, I love to learn!
