Austin Dog Rescue is made up purely of volunteers. Each dog is sheltered within a home in the Austin area. As such, there is no physical shelter to visit the dog at. If you think you may be interested in a particular dog now or in the future, please fill out an application form. People with approved application forms are prioritized over people who haven’t yet applied.

Billy (UPDATED!)

Minimum Donation: $190 190 $

Are you an all adult household that can’t be bothered with the noise, silliness, and chaos that children bring? Are you active and enjoy the great outdoors followed perhaps by a nice local brew and good conversation on the patio? Are you intelligent and enjoy intelligent companionship? Do you like order, rules, and routine? If so, then you and Billy ought to meet!

Billy is an eight-year-old (appears to be pure bred) Border Collie that lives up to every bit of his breed description. He’s smart, physically fit, and a problem solver who is looking for his human equal. He likes a reliable routine, he likes a zen environment, and he appreciates the finer things in life. Even at eight, Billy is ready to join you hiking (maybe even jogging!) or running errands around town but when he’s home and nothing is going on he’ll grab a bone and chill. Billy enjoys being near his favorite person but isn’t overly needy or physically affectionate... he’s happy to just be in the same room with you, always following or laying nearby.

Billy has exceptional house manners. He will ask to go out to relieve himself and stays off the furniture. His one downfall in this area is he knows food is on countertops... and Billy likes food! So someone who keeps a tidy kitchen is a must. Billy doesn’t care for a crate and with his good manners we haven’t forced him to get used to one.

Billy is tolerant, but that’s pushing it, of other dogs. He has no strong desire to make dog friends or have a canine companion. He’s more than happy to ignore other dogs and prefers they offer him the same courtesy. Billy is less than tolerant of young children and the chaos that typically accompanies them. He would prefer if you and your circle of friends were generally the “no kids” type.

If you are looking for a well mannered, fun, highly intelligent, and gosh DASHINGLY handsome companion and meet the above Border Collie pre-set criteria Billy would be happy to review your application himself!
